Broadband, Cell Coverage Tops Rural Municipal Conference Agenda

The Rural Ontario Municipal Association has wrapped up their conference for this year, and broadband was at the top of the agenda.

The Eastern Ontario Regional Network was discussed with municipal leaders and the NDP Caucus. EORN’s Cell Gap Project for expanded cellphone coverage and Gig project for expanded broadband were discussed. A review of Eastern Ontario long-term care homes, municipal economic recovery and affordable housing were also discussed at the conference this year.

Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus Chair and Renfrew County Warden Debbie Robinson says that the ROMA conference gives the municipalities a chance to connect with provincial officials on issues that affect rural Ontario. EWOC lead a delegation to ROMA to hear the concerns of Ontario Municipalities.
