Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus Urging Per-Bed Funding, Resource Sharing for Long-Term Care Homes.

The Eastern Ontario WArden’s Caucus says they have released a review of Long Term Care Facilities in their counties and have made some recommendations.

Among them are proposals for more funding to be put into Long Term Care Homes. The Caucus also wants to transition to a per-bed funding model, as well as improving the process to make it more efficient. They also ask the province to allow resource sharing between long term care homes.

The Caucus says they have discussed the report’s findings with Minister of Long-Term Care Merrilee Fullerton.  They have also submitted their findings to Ontario’s COVID-19 Long Term Care Commission. Warden Debbie Robbinson, Chair of EOWC, says they have demonstrated they are willing to partner and provide leadership so that changes can be made.

The regions under the EOWC manage 15 long-term care facilities with a total of over 2300 beds.
