If you are a renter looking to find a new home, Hastings County will like to offer you a hand.
The County has launched a Home Ownership Assistance Program, which will help you put a downpayment on a mortgage for a home. Tom Johnston, supervisor of affordable housing programs, says that it has been heavily utilized in the past, with funds being completely used up in the first few weeks. He says those who are currently not homeowners and are renting in Hastings County are able to apply. Applicants should have qualified for a mortgage and must provide proof of income to the County. They would also need to be looking for a home under a value of $313,000.
