OFATV and Eastern Ontario Trail Alliance Sign Memorandum of Understanding

The Ontario Federation of ATV Clubs has signed a memorandum of understanding for Hastings County Trails.

This means the Hastings Heritage Trail from Lake St. Peter to the Trent River in south Hastings will be accessible with OFATV permits. This will connect the trails administered by the Renfrew County ATV Club with those in Hastings County. OFATV President Soren Klemmensen says the OFATV plans to connect all ATV clubs to a trail system similar to that used by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs, and hopes one day to have it stretch across Ontario. He says this addition will bring more economic growth to the area and will make it easier for people to ride on the trails without the need for excessive permits.

The connection means you can ride an ATV from Pembroke all the way down to Quinte West, while only using one permit.

An earlier version of this article stated that the OFATV has signed the MOU with Hastings County and that the trials were now under their jurisdiction. This mistake has been corrected.
