After a few water main breaks this week, Bancroft Public Works is saying they will regularly happen this time of year.
Public Works Manager Perry Kelly says that when the ground heaves due to the changes in temperature, it sometimes breaks open a line. But Kelly says despite a change in water pressure and some discolouration, the water from a broken line is still safe for consumption. He suggests running the water for a few minutes for it to run clear again.
Kelly says part of the reason for the breaks is due to the ageing water system.
