For the Bancroft Fire Department, it’s that time of year again.
The department is asking people to once again change their batteries, with daylight savings time this weekend.
Deputy Fire Chief Matt Musclow says over the last year of the pandemic, there have been 24 fatal fires across the province. However, for the Bancroft area, it has been a safe year for homeowners, although there has been an uptick in vehicle fires. Musclow says that this is because of increased use during the pandemic.
When asked about what the fire department will do if the provinces end daylight savings time, Musclow says that there will still be a twice-a-year reminder even if the practice is ended.
