Environment Canada Calls For Warmer-Than Usual Spring

It looks like we can expect a milder-than usual start to the Spring season.

Saturday marks the beginning of the Spring equinox, and with it comes a warm forecast of double digit temperatures expected throughout the weekend and into next week.

Meteorologist Steven Flisfeder says it’s noticeably warmer in our area than it was at this time in 2020.

“Overall, I think people will see warmer temperatures than they did this time last year,” Flisfeder said. “More specifically, this week, we’re expecting temperatures to be about 5-10 degrees above average. So, it looks like a warm week ahead to start the Spring.”

Flisfeder says they will be monitoring the temperature on a day-by-day basis, and while the weather could still fluctuate, overall temperatures should stay above average.

This means we could see temperatures higher than 15 degrees starting Sunday.

“We’re going to be seeing above seasonal temperatures, which could change day to day and week-to-week, but overall trends say we should expect those warm temperatures to stay,” Flisfeder said.
