Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Issue Water Safety Statement

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has put out a water safety statement for the Bancroft area.

High flows, melting ice and other factors can make it dangerous for boaters, swimmers and anglers. They say to exercise caution on lakes and rivers and keep a close watch on children and pets. The ministry says that despite the rain, the extended spring melt means that the ministry does not expect there to be major flooding at this time.

Bancroft Fire Chief Pat Hoover reports they are monitoring the situation, but there are no issues at this time. He says we should see a moderate rise in the York River over the next few days, but water levels are in good condition at this time.
