You may have to wait for April Showers, as the Weather Network is predicting a drier start to the month.

However, Kevin McKay, Meteorologist with the weather network, says that’s a good thing for the spring thaw, especially with the warmer temperatures. He says with single-digit overnight lows, less ice will be forming overnight, which will translate into less flooding. Mckay predicts an average of 60 millimetres of rain to fall throughout the entire month of April.

However, McKay is less certain about how temperatures will play out over the next few months. While they are looking at an above-average spring temperature trend, there will be shocks of cold air over the next few weeks. Arctic air on the prairies will be fighting with southerly warm air, but predicts the weather will trend on the warmer side of things.
