School Board Making Preparations for Remote Learning

The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board is making moves to make learning from home easier once the spring break is over.

Next week, the board will get teachers to contact parents and students about their remote learning schedule. If a student needs technology to use at home, parents are asked to contact the school board on Monday to make arrangements. However, devices will be subject to availability and may take time to arrive.

For students with special needs, the School Board will make plans to make sure that support staff can continue learning with children under their care. They want to make sure that individualized learning continues and will create specific learning schedules.

The Board is also offering mental health supports that will be able to be accessed remotely. As for child care, the board will provide emergency care for free for all school-aged children of essential workers.

During this time, the board still wants to act with consistency, and pledge to do all they can to make sure students stay engaged in their learning.
