Bancroft and the surrounding areas are under a tornado watch.
Environment Canada issued a tornado watch for southern Ontario at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, including: Bancroft, Hastings Highlands, Denbigh, Kaladar, Bannockburn and Bon Echo Park. A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued at 11:19 a.m.
It says weather conditions are favourable for tornados. Scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast for late this morning and in to the afternoon.
In the event of a tornado, you’re advised to immediately take cover indoors on the lowest floor possible, away from outer walls and windows. If you’re outdoors, avoid: vehicles, tents, trailers and mobile homes. Lie down in a low place to protect yourself from flying objects.
