Water main flushing in Bancroft to end May 8th

If you notice that your water is coming out a strange colour or the pressure is gone, the Town of Bancroft says not to worry.

The Town is currently flushing its water main systems as part of its spring maintenance program. Some streets have already experienced flushings, such as parts of Hastings Street North or York River Drive. Some locations are being done in the next few days, such as Snow Road, Cleak Avenue, Downtown Hastings Street North, Flint Avenue and Bridge Street East, Chemaushgon Road, Forest Hill Road, Airview Drive, Waterhouse Crescent and Nicklaus Drive. Further flushing will occur between Thursday and Saturday in areas around Bridge Street, Harley Road, Billa Road, Newkirk Boulevard, Mill Street, Monk Street, Hastings Street South and any adjacent roads or crescents. Flushing should be finished up by May 8th.

If you experience low pressure or discoloration, run cold water through the tap for a few minutes each morning to clear any discoloured water from the plumbing. Residents are asked to avoid water use between 8 PM and 6 AM when flushing is happening. Residents should avoid washing clothes in discoloured water. Town staff says that pressure and colour issues can occur several blocks away from a flushing site and that it is impossible to know just how many customers will be affected from one site.

If you have followed these steps and you are still experiencing ongoing water problems, you are asked to call the Town of Bancroft.
