The Loyalist College Baycation Classic Golf Tournament is being postponed.
In an email to MyBancroftNow, the college said it had made the decision based on recent COVID-19 case numbers.
“Given that high rates of COVID-19 unfortunately continue and Ontario’s stay-at-home order may extend past May 20, we’ve made the decision to postpone the golf tournament to the Fall,” the email said.
The tournament seeks to benefit students through awards, bursaries, and scholarships, administered by the Loyalist College Foundation.
Without funding, many students do not have the means to start or finish a diploma or certificate program, which they need to advance their careers and lives.
Of all 24 Ontario colleges, Loyalist College has the highest percentage of students receiving tuition grants from the Ontario Student Assistance Program.
The college will announce the new tournament date some time in the near future.
