Bancroft Begins Engineering Phase For Connecting Link Project Of Highway 62

One of the community’s biggest projects is getting underway.

The Town of Bancroft has begun its engineering phase for the Connecting Link Project of Highway 62, with representatives from engineering firm WSP surveying and performing geotechnical investigations in the area.

The work will take place from Bridge Street for approximately 1.5 kilometres north.

Manager of Public Works Perry Kelly says this project has been long overdue.

“We are going to do all the work, including the engineering and construction with the open mind of all the people who are going to be directly or indirectly affected by this project,” Kelly said.

In order to carry out the work in the safest manner, Kelly says temporary lane closures will be occurring periodically in June.

However, through traffic and access to businesses will be maintained at all times.

Preliminary investigations by WSP and the design of construction will take place from now until the end of June.

Kelly says they are looking at construction to start in the Spring of 2022, with the completion date set for the Fall.

“This project has to be completed, with all the final submissions, and the final report has to be given to the province by the end of their fiscal year, which is March of 2023,” Kelly said.

If you have any concerns, you’re encouraged to reach out to the town with any questions you may have.
