St. Paul’s Church to ring bell 215 times in honor of Indigenous children

The bell at St. Paul’s United Church in Bancroft will ring 215 times, once for each Indigenous child found in a mass grave at a residential school in Kamloops BC.

It will begin at 6 PM on Tuesday, June 1st. Reverend Lynn Watson will also hold a small ceremony at the location during that time. Indigenous guests will be in attendance.

The public is asked to bring teddy bears and children’s shoes over the week to lay on the steps of the church. The children’s shoes are to represent the children found in the mass grave. Church staff says people are welcome to wear orange if they are able. Physical distancing measures will also be in place.
