Madawaska Valley, Brudenell-Lyndoch-Raglan issue total burn bans

Two more townships have issued total burn bans.

Both Madawaska Valley and Brudenell-Lyndoch-Raglan (BLR) Townships are to issue a total ban on burning. BLR will issue its ban starting at 12:00 AM on Tuesday, while Madawaska Valley’s will start effective immediately. Madawaska Valley Fire Chief Corwin Quade says the ban comes as wildfire warnings remain at extreme levels, while weather forecasts predict hot and dry conditions for the next few days. The ban will be in place until further notice. Quade says all fire warning signs will take a day or two to switch over.

Under the full ban, no burning of any kind, including campfires, will be allowed. Fireworks and firecrackers will also not be allowed at this time. However, gas-powered barbeques will still be permitted.
