Bancroft Mayor urges caution as town reopens

Although the patios are open for business, the Mayor of Bancroft is reminding the public that they’re not out of the woods yet.

Mayor Paul Jenkins says many residents he’s talked to feel the Friday reopening is the end of the road for the pandemic. However, he is stressing that this is not the end, and that there are still gathering and business restrictions in place. As nobody wants to go into another lockdown, he wants the public to read the guidelines and follow them so they can move on to Step Two.

COVID-19 case numbers dropped dramatically in the region, with two active cases in all of Hastings Prince Edward Public Health and none in North Hastings. Jenkins wants to keep it that way, and the best way to do that is for people to familiarize themselves with the guidelines.

As for the Town itself, the Municipal Office will have its service window open during Step One of reopening. You can also make appointments with building officials at this time. Jenkins says the Town has also received requests to use park space, and in order to do this, a plan must be submitted to the township.
