North Hastings High School conducting drive through graduations this week

Students at North Hastings High School will be getting a graduation this year.

Wayne Stewart, Principal of North Hastings High School says one graduation had already taken place on June 17th for 2019-2020 graduates who didn’t get a chance last year. Because many of them are already doing placements or summer jobs, some showed up in their work clothes. Stewart says many of them were thankful to have a graduation ceremony at last. The ceremony is finally happened this year after being cancelled four times due to public gathering restrictions.

Two more graduation ceremonies will take place this week. The first will be happening Tuesday, June 21st from 4 PM until 6 PM, which will be for Grade 8 graduates. The second one will be taking place Thursday, June 24th from 4 PM until 7 PM for this year’s grade 12 graduates of 2021.

For both ceremonies, students will be directed to Easton Avenue and go around the school, with people directing traffic at the location. Based on their experience last time, Stewart says they don’t predict any traffic issues for Bancroft residents. Students will then be directed to drive to the front of the school to get their certificate on stage and will have the opportunity to get their picture taken. Parents will be allowed on stage to take pictures with their kids, and physical distancing measures will be in place.

For more information, students are encouraged to check their school emails. Parents will also receive emails with details about the ceremony.
