Hastings Highlands to hold hazardous waste day

Residents of Hastings Highlands will be able to get rid of some extra waste this month.

The municipality is holding a hazardous and special waste day on Saturday, July 17th. Residents will be able to drop off their waste at 6 ANAF road from 9 AM until 2 PM.

Among accepted items are vehicle and garage products (Antifreeze, transmission fluid, batteries, etc), paints including staining and oil products, pesticides, aerosols, batteries, pharmaceuticals, and certain chemicals like bleach.

During the event, commercial and industrial waste will not be accepted. Radioactive materials, explosive materials such as ammunition and fireworks, as well as biological waste will not be taken, as well as old electronics and tires..

Municipal staff is asking residents to leave materials in their original containers and to pack them securely in their vehicles. They are also urging people to not mix chemicals or certain paints.
