It’s a combination the organizers call a fun, but wet time.
Sup Yogapalooza is holding their second annual fundraiser on Saturday, July 31st to raise money for the Highlands East Firefighters Station Six. The event combines doing yoga while trying to stay balanced on paddleboards.
Organizer Lesley Ferrier says that last year they raised money for the food bank. But as COVID has put a halt to the Highlands East Firefighters putting on their regular funding drives, they decided to step in.
After doing it for fun on Paudash Lake, Ferrier and other organizers had the idea to turn it into a fundraiser. 50 boaters in total came out for their inaugural year. Above all, Ferrier says to be ready to fall in the water, but the event as a whole is really fun.
Funds will be raised to help Station Six purchase water and ice rescue equipment for their hall. The entry fee is $10. Those who don’t feel comfortable attending the event but still want to support Station Six can still donate, and they will also be issued with tax receipts.
