Stewards of Eagles Nest Park looking to erect plaque honouring Algonquin People

Update: The Town of Bancroft approved the idea and will now ask the Stewards for a funding proposal

The Stewards of Eagles Nest Park are asking the Town of Bancroft to help them erect a sign honouring the Indigenous peoples of North Hastings.

The group wants to erect a plaque at the top of the Eagles Nest to show support and create awareness for reconciliation and healing for the Algonquin and Anishnabe people. The group wants visitors to know that they support First Nations people in the community and encourage visitors to learn more about Canada’s history.

The group is asking for funding from the town to erect the plaque. The Town of Bancroft approved the idea and will now ask the Stewards for a funding proposal
