Bancroft Rockhounds preparing for new season

After a year of not playing, the Bancroft Rockhounds are back.

Denny Dubblestyne, Head Coach and General Manager of the Rockhounds, says the team is happy to be back.

“I know the boys are really excited to come to camp. A lot of them are coming quite early because of that.” He says

“It’s looking really strong and our leagues as a whole is looking really strong as well with a lot of returning players as well, so it’s going to be some really exciting hockey.”

Dubblestyne says they are currently in the middle of training camp. He says over the last year, it has been very difficult to get ice to practice on. However, he’s hoping this year to be “quite good”, as many good players are returning.

However, Dubblestyne says the team needs the community’s help.

“We are still looking for billets, and it’s six hundred dollars a player. They need to give them a family environment, their own living space, and access to the internet.”

Every single player and all the staff will be fully vaccinated, and follow health and safety protocols and guidelines.

Dubblestyne is not sure if they are able to have people in the stands quite yet, but they will know closer to October

The home opener Is scheduled for October 9th.
