The County is looking to gather as much information as it can on the spread of gyspy moths, and they have developed a new tool to help them do it.
Planning and Development Committee members say the larvae infestation this year has been “particularly intense”, with whole forests being defoliated. The County’s Information Technology department is developing the tool to provide the County with real-time information on the spread of the moth and the extent of the infestation. Staff believe that this will give them an edge in combatting the moth’s spread.
No word yet on when the tool will be released.
