A prefabricated home to help with the homeless issue in Bancroft is one step closer to reality.
The Community and Human Services Committee for Hastings County reports that they were successful in getting a $500,000 grant to build the unit. A more detailed breakdown of how the grant will be spent will be presented in October, where a location and a building timeline will also be decided.
The new unit will accommodate 10 individuals in a dormitory-style building and will include common areas for meals and support programs. Services will be provided by the Bancroft Family Health Team, Safe Use Hastings, Grace Inn Shelter and Habitat for Humanity.
