There’s a new school in Madoc.
The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board has merged Madoc Public School with Centre Hastings Secondary School. The new Central Hastings School will serve students from kindergarten through grade 12. The Public School closed in June 2021.
With $8.5 million in funding to make the transition, the Board added a new two-room kindergarten area and improved areas inside and outside the school. Katherine MacIver, Director of Education with the Board, says staff is pleased to be able to start the new year in the newly renovated space.
The school currently has an enrollment of 800 students.
