Hastings County public schools see decline in online learning

The numbers are in, and it shows fewer students in Hastings County are learning virtually.

The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board says that out of the estimated 15,000 students enrolled in its schools this year, only about 474 are learning virtually. This represents 3.5 percent of elementary school children and 2.6 percent of secondary school students. Comparatively, in the 2020-2021 school year, 2,346 students across elementary and secondary schools were learning virtually.

The School Board says that there has been an increase in the total number of students in their schools. With 364 elementary and 130 secondary students, the Board says a previous trend of declining school enrollment was reversed this year.
