Be aware of the law while hunting, says Killaloe OPP

The Killaloe OPP is asking hunters to be mindful of the law this hunting season.

In addition to wearing hunter orange, police are asking hunters to handle firearms with care and never shoot unless they are sure of their target and what’s behind it. In Ontario, it’s illegal to shoot from a vehicle or carry a loaded firearm in or on a vehicle. Wear a harness while in a tree stand and never drink and hunt.

Police also want to share safety tips, like telling someone where you’re hunting, when you will return, and to dress accordingly to avoid hypothermia. In addition, hunters should carry a survival and first aid kit, a map, a compass, or a GPS unit
