Millions in capital projects slated for North Hastings High School

North Hastings High School could be seeing millions invested into upgrades.

A recent report from the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board showed several capital projects underway for the Bancroft school, with others identified and waiting to be funded.

Among the largest are renewal projects for the school’s HVAC system, which includes replacing lights, windows, doors and ventilation equipment. While over $181,000 has been committed by the Board so far, the project is expected to cost the Board around $7.5 Million. Parts of the project are currently on hold until 2022.

Other projects the Board has identified include renewing the fire alarm systems, creating a gym partition wall, new electrical equipment, upgrades to the tech shop, upgrades to communications equipment, and repairing parts of the student entrance. Some of these projects are currently underway, estimated to cost over $4 million.

All projects may be fully funded by 2023.
