Public Health not offering community flu clinics this season

Flu season is around the corner, but Hastings Prince Edward Public Health says they don’t have the resources to run their flu clinics.

The Health Unit says that because of the resources being tied up by the pandemic, they will not offer their community clinics to the public this year. Instead, residents are able to get one from a health care provider or pharmacy. The Health Unit is considering offering small flu vaccine clinics, but that is dependent on COVID-19 vaccination and case count.

Public Health says getting the flu shot this winter is more important now more than ever. With hospitals burdened by the weight of COVID-19, getting the flu shot is an ideal way to take pressure off of healthcare resources. If you can’t get the shot, the same measures for combating COVID-19 can be used for preventing the spread of the flu.
