Employees working for the Town of Bancroft will now be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Town has adopted the policy at a special council meeting.Those who have a medical reason to be unvaccinated will be accommodated for. However, they would have to submit to routine COVID-19 testing and follow extra health measures. These measures include being required to wear PPE, changing roles so they do not come into contact with the public, or be required to work from home. Those without a vaccine and cannot produce a valid exemption may be disciplined or even dismissed.
Town staff say that while their current safety plan has been effective so far, new COVID-19 variants have made vaccination all the more important. They say the new policy will help protect employees, contractors and visitors from the virus.
