Attendees of North Hastings Community Centre asked to monitor for COVID-19

The Bancroft arena may be the source of the latest COVID-19 outbreak in Hastings County.

Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is warning that anyone who attended the North Hastings Community Centre from December 7th until the 18th may have been exposed to the virus. The Town of Bancroft and the Centre is working with the health unit to respond to the situation.

Due to the situation, the NHCC has locked down on December 20th as of 12:01 AM. Staff says it will stay locked down until January 3rd or longer if need be.

Public Health is asking anyone who attended the Centre on those dates to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. Aside from fever, cough and loss of taste or smell, these include minor symptoms like a runny nose or sore throat. If these symptoms appear, they urge residents to get tested by calling the Bancroft testing centre at 613-332-2825 ext. 6224.

The Health Unit is currently contacting positive COVID-19 cases related to the outbreak. As of writing, there are currently 361 active cases in the Hastings Prince Edward unit, with 16 of those in the North Hastings area.
