Hastings Highlands lays out fire fighting plan after Station Five closure

There is now a plan if a fire happens in Lake St. Peter.

The Municipality of Hastings Highlands has put together a Fire Service Continuity Plan as a result of the closing of Fire Station Five. According to the plan, the firefighters from the former Station 5 will provide an initial response with a fire equipment truck. The main work for suppressing the fire will be done by Stations One, Three and Four. If need be, Station Six and members of the Bancroft Fire Department will also provide support.

The move comes after the Ministry of Labour ordered an engineer to complete an assessment of Station Five last year. The engineer found that the building was unable of supporting the loads being applied to it. The report recommended immediate closure or decommissioning of the building to ensure safety.
