Ontario’s former NDP leader is getting back into politics.
Howard Hampton is now the federal candidate for Kenora and he’ll be going up against Greg Rickford, the Tory minister for FedNor.
Hampton, who was appointed a special advisor by the federal NDP to the Ring of Fire, says Northern Ontario’s economy has suffered under the Harper Conservatives.
Hampton was first elected as an MPP in 1987 in the northern riding of Kenora – Rainy River.
He then led the NDP for 13 years beginning in 1996.
