Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has issued a Cold Weather Health Warning after Environment Canada issued an Extreme Cold Warning for the area.
With wind chill values dropping to minus 35, the health unit is warning that the temperatures could lead to health complications like windburn, frostbite and hypothermia. They are urging residents to take precautions as the cold weather continues, such as dressing warmly in layers, moving to maintain blood flow and body heat, and making sure your home heating system is working properly.
They also remind residents of Bancroft that the North Hastings Community Centre is open as a warming centre from 9 PM until 7 AM.
