New warming centre established in Bancroft

A new location for a warming centre has been selected in Bancroft by Hastings County.

The warming centre will now be located at 24 Flint Avenue. Formerly the Town of Bancroft offices, they are currently the location of the Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini Algonquin First Nation. The new location will be open any time the temperatures drop below -10 degrees celsius. They will operate during this time from 9 PM until 7 AM until February 28th.

The Town of Bancroft says they will no longer be operating the warming centre at the North Hastings Community Centre, as it was a temporary measure. Hastings County Warden Rick Phillips thanked Chief Stephen Hunter for providing the location and the Bancroft Warming Centre Steering Committee for their work.
