The acting medical officer of health for Hastings Prince Edward Public Health will now take on his role permanently.
Dr. Ethan Toumishey has been appointed as the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) by the health unit’s board. His appointment is subject still to approval from the Ministry of Health. He has been serving in the role since October of 2021 when Dr. Piotr Oglaza left the health unit to take the MOH role in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Public Health.
Jo-Anne Albert, Chair of the Board of Health, says Dr. Toumishey has been invaluable during his tenure as acting MOH and has demonstrated strong and steady leadership in the face of the pandemic. She says he also has the vision and passion to advocate for public health.
