South Algonquin reminding residents that burn permits are still required.

You can’t burn freely in South Algonquin, according to the township.

They say a burn permit is needed for all open air fires within the municipality. However, property owners who have a two-foot by two-foot campfire are exempt from this rule when not under a burn ban.

The township is urging all residents who plan to do any burning to get a free permit. Even if they are not required, those using the permits will receive updates when the burn status of the township changes. Permits are valid for one year, and can be found here.
