Hastings County declares state of emergency over

Nearly two years after it was first put in place, the state of emergency in Hastings County has been declared over.

It was invoked on March 26th, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was done to make sure the County could still be run while keeping residents safe. Now, effective immediately, that state of emergency has been declared over in line with the Province’s reopening plan.

Warden Rick Philips says the County has reached a point where they are able to move forward without the need for a state of emergency. However, with the situation able to evolve as time goes on, Philips says they will continue to follow public health guidance.
