Despite broken water mains and heavy snow needing to be cleared from the road, the Public Works Department of Bancroft was able to do it all with money to spare.
Bancroft Public Works manager Perry Kelly says the department managed to finish the year with a surplus. Kelly says the Treasurer for the Town of Bancroft is an advocate for paying funds forward from past years’ budgets, allowing for any surplus to be reinvested into capital purchases, like new vehicles and better-maintained roads. Thanks to this approach, and coming in under budget for this year, this will allow them to invest in the future of Bancroft’s public works.
Kelly says that this is possible due to the trust Bancroft Town Council has put in the managers to make decisions on finances year over year. A final Town budget is expected to be approved within the coming weeks.
