Uptick in deer collisions prompts local OPP to issue warning

Deer are coming out of the bush this time of year, and local OPP wants to make sure they don’t end up as your new hood ornament.

With the Killaloe Detachment alone responding to nine car-and-deer collisions over the last week, they are reminding all motorists to be cautious. Most importantly, they are urging people to not veer for deer, as changing your direction too quickly may result in a rollover. Drivers should reduce speeds, steer straight, and stay in control of the vehicle.

They also ask drivers to scan the ditches to spot deer and slow down. Deer can move across roadways at any time of the day or night, and if you see one, there often will be more.
