GM receives government funding Ontario plants building electric vehicles

General Motors is the recipient of over a half-billion dollars in federal and provincial funding to help grow its electric vehicle or EV production.

The auto manufacturer will launch Canada’s first full-scale EV production facility in Ingersoll in southwest Ontario at the CAMI Assembly Plant. GM also announced it will add light-duty Chevy Silverado pickup truck production at its Oshawa plant creating 2,600 new jobs and a third shift to the plant that
once shut down in 2019.

General Motors has invested 2-billion dollars into both projects.
