Pickup stolen from driveway in Dysart et al

The Haliburton Highlands OPP is reminding car owners to do what they can to protect themselves from thefts after a car was stolen in Dysart et al.

Gosia Puzio with the Central Region OPP says a white 2015 Nissan Titan pickup truck was stolen from someone’s driveway on Pine Avenue. It was reported stolen April 5 and is believed to have been stolen between 10 PM and 7 AM the day before.

No information is available about the suspect.

Puzio asks residents in the area to check their security cameras and report any suspicious activity to police.

Puzio says all vehicles should be parked in well-lit, secure areas or, if possible, a locked garage. She suggests using a theft-deterrent device like a steering wheel, brake lock, or installing a GPS tracker.

If your car uses a key fob, she says to invest in a signal blocking case to put it in. Puzio says it would be a good idea to buy and install surveillance cameras as well.

Most importantly, Puzio says you should always make sure your car is locked.
