Learning to live with COVID-19 doesn’t mean pandemic is over, says health unit

The Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reminding residents that just because COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted doesn’t mean the pandemic is over.

The health unit has seen an increase in the regions, and because of that, says everyone should take steps to stop the spread. Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ethan Toumishey says they are relying on the public to make responsible choices to help reduce the transmission of the virus.

Public health says residents should stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations and check if they are eligible for booster shots. They also urge anyone who is sick to stay home, and take a rapid or PCR test if they can. While not required, it is still strongly recommended that people wear a medical or three-layered mask in all indoor public settings and around those who are at risk.
