Thanks to your generous support, the local Lions Club was able to collect two boxes of eyewear on Canada Day.
It set up a booth in Millennium Park on July 1, asking people to bring old: eyeglasses, sunglasses, magnifiers and lenses. The eyewear will now be sent to a main recycling centre in Calgary where it’ll be cleaned, repaired and shipped to those who need it.
The World Health Organization estimates that more than 150 million people around the world have eye issues but can’t afford eyeglasses.
