North Hastings Inspiration Place Capital Event to take place May 1st

The fundraising for the new library begins on Sunday.

The event will kick off on May 1st at 2 PM at the municipal parking lot near McCaskie’s, which will be the home of the new North Hastings Inspiration Place. Capital Campaign Chair Cheryl Easton says this will be their soft launch for the fundraising campaign for the new space. A large portion of the project is mostly funded by all levels of government, and the campaign will bring in the last bit of cash that is needed to finish the project.

For this event, the group is partnering with Baseball for Dad to kick off Mental Health and Suicide Awareness Month. As the campaign’s colour is green, Easton asks those who are attending to wear the colour in support.

Signage for the new location, as well as a site and floor plans, will be unveiled. There will also be an announcement from Limerick Township, which will be their first corporate donor.

Easton says the new space will be more than a place for books. There are plans to put in a maker’s space, a recording studio, a kitchen, a tech space and so much more. She says it has been the dream of fundraisers to make a space where the community can gather.

The location will also have affordable housing units, which are not connected to the capital campaign event.

Easton says she is confident that the space will get funded, as it is a project the town needs and desires. There are many ideas floating around for fundraising, including a gala, partnering with Tweed and Company Theatre, and a book sale. Various projects are on the go, and Easton is confident that with the support of the community, people will enter the space and realize their maximum potential.
