Majority of storm repairs to wrap up this week

Most people in the region affected by May’s thunderstorms should see their power come back this week.

Hydro One reports hundreds of people are still without power but many could see their power restored as soon as June 7th.

However, Hydro One is warning that many locations around Bancroft and Tweed may be without power for a few days, if not weeks. Those in remote, rural and island locations are affected by the “extraordinary level of damage”.

Wollaston Township and Tudor and Cashel Township have not yet rescinded their states of emergency. Both municipalities are hoping the province will activate the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians Program for the area. They want residents to submit insurance claims for their damaged property in order to activate the program.
