Hastings County approves funding for Maggie’s Resource Centre Transitional Housing

Transitional housing in the Town of Bancroft just took a step closer to completion.

Hastings County has approved moving $500,000 in funding to the home proposed by Maggie’s Resource Centre. Warden Rick Philips says they are thankful to Infrastructure Canada and United Way Simcoe Muskoka for the re-allocation of these funds. He says they will go to support individuals and families who have experienced violence so they can start moving forward with their lives.

Tanya McKinnon, Executive Director of Maggie’s Resource Centre, says they have established partnerships across North Hastings, and that these transitional beds are the next step in providing support. Bancroft Mayor Paul Jenkins says it was critical to have a local shelter, as the nearest one was in Belleville.
