Quinte Regional Traffic Coalition working to prevent collisions along Highway 62

A team from Quinte will be working to make all of Highway 62 safe for drivers this summer.

The Quinte Region Traffic Coalition is partnering with several organizations to combat what they call the big four. These include distracted driving, alcohol or drug-impaired driving, aggressive driving and lack of seatbelt use. They say there are the main contributors to motor vehicle collisions and deaths. They say they intend to work with their partners to encourage safe driving along the highway.

They are urging drivers to plan a safe ride home if they intend on using substances. They also urge people to respect speed limits, put phones away while driving, and always wear seatbelts.

The Coalition says in 2021, OPP responded to 228 collisions along Highway 62. The Bancroft OPP is one of the Coalition’s community safety partners.
