(UPDATED) United Way helping North Hastings kids prep for school

UPDATE JULY 5th: An earlier version of this article included an incorrect pick-up date. We’ve fixed this below and and apologize for the error.

United Way Hastings Prince Edward is calling it a way to ensure all students can fully participate in their education.

The group is launching its Backpacks for Success program, which fills bags with grade-appropriate school supplies. Director of Donor Relations Melanie Cressman says the first 1,000 registered will receive a backpack, that will give students the tools they need to succeed in school.

Backpacks can be picked up for $12 while supplies last, or until July 8th. In-person registration is also available so long as there are backpacks available.

For North Hastings, bags will be available at North Hasting’s Children’s Services at 168 Hasting Street North in Bancroft. Pickup will happen on Thursday, August 25th, from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM.
