Food bank receives hundreds of pounds of food from North Hastings High School

As the school year wraps up, North Hastings High School has made a major donation to the Community Cupboard.

Christina Ellicock, Cupboard Coordinator, says the High School was emptying their cafeteria food stores before the summer holidays. Instead of the food being put to waste or left in the school, it was donated to the food bank.

In total, 667 pounds of food were donated by the school. This includes things like pasta and spaghetti sauce, 100 loaves of frozen sliced bread, and kid’s snacks.

Ellicock says this helps out both people coming to the kitchen and the homeless population. She adds she’s in disbelief at the community’s generosity. Despite the size of the town and the increased price of food, she is thankful for the donation to the Community Cupboard.
